Janet L. Uglow, 91, of Shippensburg, passed away the morning of Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at Celebration Villa of Shippensburg.
She was born on July 3, 1935 in Carlisle, PA, a daughter of the late Clarence C. and Grace Margaret (Cover) Smith. She married Donald Eugene Uglow on May 18, 1952 in the Shippensburg First Church of God. He preceded her in death on February 1, 2002.
Janet attended Shippensburg High School and was a lifelong member of Shippensburg First Church of God. She worked in retail for most of her employment years. Due to her passion for shoes, her favorite position was at Martin Shoes.
Janet and her husband, Don always looked forward to their regular trips to Sanibel Island, FL and Myrtle Beach, SC. There, they enjoyed the company of friends and made many more lifetime friends.
She is survived by her daughter, Carlene Kay (Uglow) Frey and husband David of Shippensburg; two granddaughters, Danielle L. Cogar of Canonsburg, PA, and Amanda A. Smith and husband John of Annandale, VA; and one great-grandchild, Brayden A. Cogar of Canonsburg, PA.
In addition to her parents and spouse, she was preceded in death by her son, Donald E. Uglow, Jr., who passed away in 2024; and three siblings, Paul W. Smith, Esther M. Smith Creamer, and Galen A. “Tubb” Smith.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg. Funeral services will be private. Janet will be privately laid to rest alongside her husband at Spring Hill Cemetery.
