SFCOG Prayer Update

Hello Church Family,

Kevin Brenneman, son of Dr. John and Lois Brenneman, passed away this morning and is now with Jesus. Please remember John and Lois and their whole family in your prayers.

“Blessed are the poor in spirit,

for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Blessed are those who mourn,

    for they will be comforted.

Blessed are the meek,

for they will inherit the earth.

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,

    for they will be filled.

Blessed are the merciful,

for they will be shown mercy.

Blessed are the pure in heart,

    for they will see God.

Blessed are the peacemakers,

for they will be called children of God.

Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness,

for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”

--Matthew 5:3-10

Please pray!

Dear Family,

Please be in prayer for Heidi Coy.  She is in the Chambersburg Hospital.  I received the following email from Kathy Coy:

"Her protein is showing up very high. It makes it sound like she has preeclampsia or the verge of preeclampsia. They're giving her injections to develop the baby lungs just in case she has to deliver soon. They're trying to hold her off to delivery for at least two more weeks. That would make her deliver at 34 weeks. Preferably they would like 37 weeks. She is in the hospital being closely monitored if things take a change and she has to deliver.  She hopes to go home tonight but could be wishful thinking.  For now, keep her in your prayers and him. He would be a little peanut if he comes this early   Smaller than my Cayson ❤️   He weighs about 3:11 right now."

Thank you for partnering in prayer!

"But those who wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint".   Isaiah 40:31

Another prayer request and additional information

Dear Family,

So sorry that I forgot to add this to my previous email.

John and Lois Brenneman shared that their son Kevin came home from the hospital on Sunday on Hospice care.   His spirits brightened being at home, but he sleeps a lot. They anticipate that he will go to be with his Lord fairly soon.  They ask for prayers for peace for him and the whole family.  Their children are now with them.

Margie Shoap, one of our Friends at Home, will be 94 on Friday.  You are welcome to send a birthday card to her at the following address:

SFCOG services cancelled for 1/19

Hello Church Family,

Given the uncertainty of when the winter storm will begin on Sunday morning, we have decided to cancel all services. The Director of Public Safety for Cumberland County has issued a warning that travel may be difficult and it is recommended that people stay indoors during the storm. We want to ensure everyone's safety so we have made this advance decision.

I pray you will take some time in the word, perhaps reflecting on James 4 & 5 and the applied wisdom of scripture. Take time to rest, check in on your family and friends and neighbors, and spend some time in prayer.

"Is anyone among you in trouble? Let them pray. Is anyone happy? Let them sing songs of praise."

‭‭-James‬ ‭5‬:‭13‬

Blessings,

Pastor Rodney

Please pray!

Dear Family,

Please pray for healing for:

Lisa Murphy is in the hospital with pneumonia.   She is not feeling well enough today for visits or phone calls.

Is anyone among you in trouble?  Let them pray.  Is anyone happy?  Let them sing songs of praise.  Is anyone among you sick?  Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord.   And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up.  If they have sinned, they will be forgiven.   Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed.  The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.”  James 5:13-16
